External Flash Worksheet

  1. You would use external flash when either you don’t like the lighting in the area or there isn’t enough of it.
  2. If you use flash, you don’t need to meter the light because it will change with the flash.
  3. Flash synchronization is when your flash goes off exactly when your camera takes a picture.
  4. EETL is the mode the flash should be one, which uses the information on the lens to calculate how much light is needed.
  5. If you shoot faster than the camera sync speed, the picture will be half dark and half bright.
  6. Photographers use a diffuser or bounce the light to soften the light and not make it harsh on the subject.
  7. A slave is when you have the external flash on your camera and it goes off when the camera tells it too.
  8. If your image comes out too dark, you should open your aperture or shutter speed to make it brighter. If it comes out too bright, you would close your aperture or shutter speed to make it darker.
  9. To take the flash on, you push the button on and then push it in the top of the camera. To take it off, you need to push the button, then pull it off.
