Painting with Light

I think the artist that took the photo achieved this look by setting the camera on a very long exposure and making sure their subjects were staying still in the same spot. Then I think they ran over to them and started to draw with the light to show a fight scene. I think this is eye catching because it has a bright light in the middle and has interesting surroundings and colors.

Cultural Photography: Read and Write

In this article, the author heard of the thing called cultural photography and was confused on what it was, so they started to research it. When someone asked them what they did, they used to say photography and if they asked what kind, documentary photography. After researching it, they found out that cultural photography is what they do and like to take picture of. Cultural photography is when you take pictures focusing on peoples culture and what the world sees and understands.

Some interesting things I found in the article was how the author explains that cultural photography helps other people understand the world more and also said that its not just taking pictures of people, but of places and things too. These stood out to me because I feel like most pictures that feel like are apart of culture have people in it. The other fact that cultural photography could help others understand the world was interesting too because I think it does help more people know what is going on in the world.

Lastly, the article was talking about how experience is more important than photography to him. I agree with this statement because I feel like you should know what and where you are doing things before you do it. They also talk about the results of the image you take can change based off your your tools, surroundings, and people. I agree with this because there are always cool things around the subject, or the subject is in focus in good pictures.

Cultural Identity Photography

These photos relate to my cultural because they show what my family and I do as traditions. The first picture is of my puppy, Charlie, who we just got around 2 years ago. She is a big part of put family and we all love her a lot. The second picture is of my family’s trailers. We used to go camping every month to get out of the house, and it now became a part of our family. The last picture is of a cookie my sister made. I chose this to represent my cultural because my family and I always cook and bake every holiday.

Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Cauchon because she is really nice and inspires me everyday. I’ve been wanting to become a photographer for a while and she inspired me to learn more about it and to try my best with every assignment. She also has taught be a lot about photography that I hadn’t known before and that I could use in the future.

Another reason why Mrs. Cauchon is one of my favorite teachers is because she is always talking to the students in her class about different things and I think its fun to hear them talking about things I like too. I also like how she hasn’t been rude to anyone I know for any reason, unlike other teachers I had before that yell at everyone.

One more reason why Mrs. Cauchon is one of my favorite teachers is because the vibe in her room is really cool. I love the pictures from past and current students all around her walls that show all kinds of styles and colors. I also like the kind of music she plays during class because I like similar music.

History of Photography Timeline

I think that the most interesting events were how when artists out a hole through the wall and painted images upside down. I think this is interesting because I was confused about why the images were coming up upside down and how people found out about that. Another thing that is important to day would be the colored unreversed images because that is what today’s pictures are and they show more story then black and white photos.

Take a Vacation

I would like to go on this vacation because I feel like it would be a pretty place to take pictures and to hang out with friends. I also like the bright colors that most picture portray the city and place as.

Flash photo comparison

  1. In the first photo, there isn’t many shadows compared to the second.
  2. Second photo looks more natural and darker, while the first is brighter
  3. First photo shows more reflections and shiny things, second photo has no reflections
  4. More white in the first photo, which makes the flash stand out more
  5. Because the second photo has a person, the flash isn’t brightening them up too much.

External Flash Worksheet

  1. You would use external flash when either you don’t like the lighting in the area or there isn’t enough of it.
  2. If you use flash, you don’t need to meter the light because it will change with the flash.
  3. Flash synchronization is when your flash goes off exactly when your camera takes a picture.
  4. EETL is the mode the flash should be one, which uses the information on the lens to calculate how much light is needed.
  5. If you shoot faster than the camera sync speed, the picture will be half dark and half bright.
  6. Photographers use a diffuser or bounce the light to soften the light and not make it harsh on the subject.
  7. A slave is when you have the external flash on your camera and it goes off when the camera tells it too.
  8. If your image comes out too dark, you should open your aperture or shutter speed to make it brighter. If it comes out too bright, you would close your aperture or shutter speed to make it darker.
  9. To take the flash on, you push the button on and then push it in the top of the camera. To take it off, you need to push the button, then pull it off.
